WILLIAMSON, Isaac Halsted Williamson was born in 1769 in Elizabethtown, Union County, New Jersey. He died in Elizabethtown on July 10, 1844. He attended school locally in Elizabethtown. He pursued the law along with his brother and became a prosecutor in Morris County, New Jersey. He was admitted to the bar in 1791. He rose in rank in the prosecutor's office and in 1817 he won election to the assembly. He served as governor and chancellor of New Jersey from February 6, 1817 until October, 1830. He was the president at the convention in which the state constitution was revised and adopted in 1844. It wasn't long after the convention ended that he died on July 10, 1844.
