Survived by daughter, Mary Frances Gillis Faloon, Oak Ridge, TN and sons, James E. Gillis, Jr., North Dakota, Charles W. Brantley, Winter Park, FL and Richard A. Brantley, Titusville, FL. Son, James "Ted" Gillis died in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher Columbus Brantley and Mary Naomi Clements Brantley and younger brother, Albert, who died as an infant. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Pearl Baker Brantley.

In addition to his immediate family he was survived by his sisters, Christian Pearl Brantley Starling, Mary Virginia Brantley Purdee, Gladys Ruth Brantley Coleman, and Alice Naomi Brantley Coleman; brothers, John Clements Brantley, Joseph Alson Brantley, Jordan Lee Brantley, and Bryon Columbus Brantley. All are deceased, except for Virginia.

He worked for the State Road Department in his younger days and completed his career as a pipe fitter, with Gibbs Shipyard in Jacksonville, FL.

At the time of his death he was living with his son in Titusville, FL. Prior to his move to Titusville following the death of his wife, he lived at 35 Sylvan Dr in St. Augustine, FL.
