This death date is the same as his wife's, and cannot be confirmed as yet. Is it possible they died the same day from illness?

John was the son of John Webster I & Mary Shatswell. John Webster immigrated to New England in 1633/1634 with his parents and one older sister, Mary. After first residing in Boston, they soon moved to Newbury (port) and by the time young John was about 10, the family had settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts. John was about 14 years old when his father died and being the oldest son of eight children presumably assumed some family responsibilities. Except for a period of about 4 years between 1653 and 1657, John and his family lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

He married Anne Newburg Batt on June 13, 1653 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. She was daughter of Nicholas Batt. To this union, 9 children were born:

John
Mary
Sarah
Abigail
Lucy
Stephen
Anna
Nicholas
Jonathan

John Webster was a Sargeant in Captain Thomas Noyes Co., Newbury in King Philip's War. Savage mentions that Col. Rec.IV 362 and related in Coffin that he was in military trouble at some time.

John moved to Newbury from Ipswich after his father's death, later to Haverhill where he was the second blacksmith in the town. He moved back to Newbury later, which is where he probably died. He and his wife were married for 63 years.

Per Robert Charles Anderson's "The Great Migration," Vol. VII, pg. 264, this John Webster was born about 1631. Further, on pg. 261, Anderson states that the origin of this John Webster's father, John Webster (b. about 1607), is not known. Thus, the origin of this John Webster must also be unknown; although England is a safe bet.
