GLEN ROSE - Wayland G. Adams Sr., a retired carpenter, died Saturday at a Fort Worth hospital. He was 77.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Glen Rose, where he was a member.

Masonic burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery near Glen Rose.

Martin's Funeral Home in Cleburne is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adams was past worshipful master of the Glen Rose Masonic Lodge. He was past District Deputy and Grand Master of the 65th Masonic district. He was a 32nd degree member of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and was awarded the Golden Trowel for his Masonic work. He was a charter member of the Granbury Scottish Rite Club. He was also a charter member and past president of the Johnson/Somervell Counties Scottish Rite Club.

Mr. Adams served as past president of the Somervell County Historical Society and the Somervell County American Cancer Society. He was a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

He served in the Marines during World War II.

Survivors: Wife, Evelyn Adams of Glen Rose; son, Wayland Adams Jr. of Glen Rose; two daughters, Suzanne Carter of Ennis and Cynthia Armour of Waco; mother, Mable Adams of Glen Rose; sister, Mary Adams of Glen Rose; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
