Mr. Esty was born in Rockingham, N.C., and came to Gainesville in 1995. He was a retired radar technician and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Marla Esty of High Springs; sons Clifford Esty of Orlando and John Christopher of Gainesville; his mother, Anne Esty of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; stepdaughters Amy Fulford and Gwen Poole; stepsons Jed Copeland, Grant Copeland and Curtis Copeland; brothers Richard and Howard Esty of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
