Wilson served in the Army during the Mexican border conflict and was among the first from Lennox, SD to enlist in the 147th Field Artillery. The picture was taken at Camp Green, Charlotte, NC in Nov. 1917.

Wilson was transferred to a tank outfit and served in France. His military discharge papers state that he was gassed 8-18. He was awarded the Victory medal. He was discharged 17 Sep 1919.
