Army Spc. Morales was assigned to the 148th Brigade Support Battalion, Cedartown, Georgia. He died in Methar Lam of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover. Ray was a 1992 graduate of Murray County High School in Chatsworth, Georgia. He developed an interest in the military while in high school and joined the school's ROTC program. After graduation, he joined the Army where his need to serve his country and his sense of adventure took him to places like Russia, Korea and finally to Afghanistan. Ray spent 12 years in the Army because he loved it and what he did there. His brigade had been deployed since late June or early July. Ray was a loving husband and a great father to his four children. He was a caring and loyal person who would help anyone out – a great, outgoing, and loyal guy who had tons of friends. When he had extra time he loved to hunt and fish. A smile appears on his friends' faces when they recall what a prankster he was.
