LESTER ALDON GRISSOM
---Lester Aldon Grissom, 59, of Kirksville, passed away Sunday (September 2, 1984) in Grim-Smith Hospital.
---The son of Henry Marion and Birdie Sutton Grissom, he was born March 12, 1925 in Adair county. On June 30, 1946 in Gifford, he married Wilma Walters who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Linda Grissom of Kirksville; one sister, Mrs. Cleland (Nolia) Hays of Kirksville; one brother, H. M. Grissom of Kirksville and nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Grissom and two sisters, Thelma Mathes and one in infancy.
---Mr. Grissom was a life-long resident of Adair county. He received his education in Sugar Creek rural school and Kirksville Public Schools. He was engaged in farming and also was employed with Hollisters for 16 years before his retirement due to ill health. After his retirement, he opened Grissom Sharpening Shop and operated that business until his death.
---During World War II, Mr. Grissom served with the United States Army 1st Cavalry.
---He was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church, V.F.W. and D.A.V.
---Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon (September 5, 1984) in the chapel of Foster-Fohn Memorial Home. the Rev. Roy Starbuck will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Charles ("Bud") Reese singing, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset." He will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery with military rites at the graveside by Adair Post No. 2508 VFW and MacDougall-Lowe Post No. 20, American Legion, D.A.V.
---Casket bearers will be member of Adair Post 2508 and MacDougall-Lowe Post No. 20.
---Friends may call at Foster-Fohn Memorial Home.
