PORTLAND, Ore. — The Rev. Helen Estelle Aubrey Bruner, 85, died July 16, 2009, in Portland, Ore.

She was born May 6, 1924, in Oklahoma City, Okla., and was an Anderson resident for 11 years. She was ordained in 1942 and started her ministry in Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Fred V. Bruner. They were married for 50 years and co-pastored in Church of God congregations from Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, and Oregon to Missouri.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie Ann and Dale Sackett of Gresham, Ore., and Marlyne K. and Tom Bruce of Anderson; son and daughter-in-law, Fred V. and Pat Bruner Jr. of Casper, Wyo.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A service of celebration will be offered Wednesday in Portland with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Anderson University School of Theology.

Arrangements are being handled by Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
