~ Carl Blunk Obituary ~

Carl Alfred Blunk Jr., 58, of Clatskanie died Oct. 1, 2008, at the Hospice Care Center.

He was born in Longview Oct. 27, 1949, to Carl and Virginia (Reynolds) Blunk. He attended school and made his home in the Rainier/Clatskanie area, graduating in 1968. He also earned a two-year degree in electronics from Lower Columbia College in 1986.

He married Rozella "Rosie" Tofte in Vancouver July 12, 1974, and made their home in Clatskanie. They then had two daughters, Josephine "Jo" in 1975 and Saundra in 1978.

Carl and his wife formerly owned Rosie's Cafe in Clatskanie. He was a soft-hearted guy who was caring, well-liked and giving, but also a jokester. He enjoyed working in his garden, woodworking, cooking, and caring for his fish in his tanks and ponds. He also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his parents, Carl and Virginia Blunk of Clatskanie; his wife, Rozella "Rosie"; two daughters and sons-in-law, Josephine "Jo" and Scott Johnson of Longview and Saundra and Shawn Massey of Vancouver; two grandsons, Kristoffer and Collin Massey of Vancouver; his siblings and their spouses, Judy and Butch Merrill of Clatskanie, Ed Blunk of Rainier, Pam and Tom Burg of Kenai, Alaska, Bernie Blunk of Rainier, Nancy and Dennis Goff of Rainier, Marty and Carrie Blunk of Longview, Karen and Shane Bowling of Nikiski, Alaska, Linda and Mike Schwitzke of Kalama, Vicky and Vern Stanford of Kenai, and Sally and Mark Massey of Rainier; her in-laws, Bernard and Margie Tofte of Vancouver; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, aunts, uncles and extended family members, including Kelli and Ron Hawker, and Mikayla, Beau and Gary Tussing, all of Clatskanie and Nathan Hancock of Longview; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a nephew, Richard Nelson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Life Fellowship Church of God in Longview with Pastor Steve Berry officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Carl Blunk Jr., Memorial Fund at Fibre Federal Credit Union.

Arrangements are by Groulx Family Mortuary, Rainier.
