OLD JOURNALIST GONE
Death of J. W. Garrison, Editor of the First
Newspaper of Alliance
Friday afternoon J. C. Garrison of Keystone street received a telegram announcing the death of his brother J. W. Garrison of Chicago.
The forenoon of Mr. Garrison's life was spent in Alliance. He is well and favorably known to many of our older citizens. It was in this place that he commenced his long career as a journalist, being the editor and publisher of the Monitor, the first newspaper in Alliance. He has been engaged in newspaper work almost continuously ever since.
At the time of his death he was associated with the Chicago Legal News. He was seventy-two years old and all his life had been a useful and enterprising man and a constant christian. In his home he was a devoted husband and father.
He was the eldest son of the late John R. and Francis Goff Garrison.
