Dolores Barnes Chriswell, age 83 passed away Friday at the Golden Years Nursing Home. She is survived by her children: Curtis R. Thompson and Cathy (Tim) Thomas; grandson: Chris Thomas and siblings: Reid Barnes and Arlie Barnes. //////////////////////////////// 2ND obit -- Dec. 27, 1932—April 1, 2016 Dolores Barnes Chriswell, loving mother, wife, grandmother and great- grandmother passed away April 1, 2016. She was born December 27, 1932 in the Lockett's Chapel community of Wayne County, the daughter of the late Arlie E. Barnes and Nell Gregory Barnes. She united in marriage with Curtis Thompson on October 7, 1951 and to this union two children survive—Curtis R. Thompson of Monticello, Ky. and Cathy Thomas (Tim) of Bowling Green, Ky. She is also survived by one grandson—Chris Thomas (Elizabeth) and two great-granddaughters—Caroline and Kristen, all of Bowling Green, Ky. She married Lyle Chriswell on March 8, 1986 who preceded her in death. She is survived by four step-children—Steve Chriswell (Trish) of Monticello, Ky., Ronnie Chriswell (Joyce) of Berea, Ky., Larry Chriswell (Nancy) of Monticello, Ky. and Jill Chriswell of Monticello, Ky. Preceding her in death were two step-children—Dale Chriswell (Diane) and Pam Chriswell. She is also survived by two brothers—Reid Barnes (Charlene) of Greenfield, Ind. and Arlie O. Barnes (Marilyn) of Monticello, Ky.; one aunt—Betty Veltrie of Salida, Colo.; a niece—Donna Tuggle of Monticello, Ky.; and four nephews—Carl Barnes, Marcus Barnes, Jake Barnes and Benny Barnes all of Greenfield, Ind. She accepted Christ as her Savior in June 1952 and became a lifelong member of Rogers Grove Baptist Church in August 1952. She was an active member as long as her health allowed. The things she enjoyed most in life were taking care of her home, spending time with her family and attending Sunday school and church. Other interests included reading, gardening and sewing. She loved the Rogers Grove community, Rogers Grove Baptist Church and her church family. She was an employee of the Monticello Shirt Factory for 38 years. She was a very special lady who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Danny Bell, Bro. Charlie Dean and Bro. Charles E. Dick officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to the Rogers Grove Baptist Church or Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
