Mrs. Fred Schreiber, 83, of Rt. 2, Kiel, died Tuesday at the farm home after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County. Rev. El. L. Henning will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The former Eugenia Muehlstadt was born Nov. 11, 1872 at Mittweide, Sachaen, Germany, daughter of the late Theodore and Emma Mueller Muehlstadt and came to the United States with her parents in 1888. The family settled at Milwaukee. On April 17, 1890, she was married to Fred Schreiber of Meeme and the couple farmed until his death Sept 24, 1941. Mrs. Schreiber remained on the farm, living with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bechle. The Schreibers observed the golden anniversary of their wedding in 1940.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frank Bechle; a son Rudolph of New Holstein; five of the six children they took into their home and reared, Mrs. Emma Burkhardt, Mrs. Edgar Mueller, August and Fred Ehnert and Louis Kenneke of Kiel, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One of the children the couple reared as a child, Mrs. John Schlamp, died in 1941. Mrs. Schreiber was preceded in death by two sons who died in infancy.
