Peter Butz was born, (according to tombstone inscription March 22, 1783) and died April 10, 1847. He had been engaged in farming. On Dec 2, 1804, he was married to Elizabeth Schmeyer (b. November 18, 1785; d. May 20, 1866, a daughter of Daniel and Catharine Barbara (Keiser) Schmeier,
the issue being five sons and four daughters: Frank, Aaron, Stephen, William, Peter, Mary Etta, m. first to Nathan Ziegler, second to Nathan Weiler; Eliza Butz who married Nathan Trexler Haas .; Anna, wife of Daniel Leibensperger; and Hetty, m. to Elias Kemmerer. In 1855 the Longswamp Church records 1787-1906, transcribed by Charles A. Butz said in May 1855 there were 10 children and 66 grandchildren.
