On Thursday, March 17, 2005, after a long and full life, Della Marie Acord went to see her Lord and Savior. She was in her 93rd year.
Della Marie was born on Monday, May 1, 1911, at Glen White, a daughter of Thomas Gravley and Pearl (Terry) Gravley.
Known affectionately as Granny by her family and friends, Della was a 70-year resident of Eccles. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eccles Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Snowden Acord, in 1975; a son-in-law, Claude Stump, in 1998; and six brothers, Eddie, Earl, James, Herbert, Jack and Bill Gravley.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Elizabeth Stump of MacArthur; four grandchildren, Claude Stump Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Beckley, Steve Stump and his wife, Dana, of Cool Ridge, Ernie Stump and his companion, Kim, of Eccles and Anna Marie Hardbarger and her companion, Don Lilly, of MacArthur; four great-grandchildren, Timothy Gross and his wife, Andrea, Thomas Gross, Skye and Hallie Stump; a great-great-grandchild, Savannah Gross; a brother, George Gravley of Urbana, Ill.; and two sisters, Lora Gravley of Champaign, Ill., and Dora Jones of Beckley.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Nina Bays officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
