BEAVER _ Willis Acord, 71, of Beaver, Raleigh County, died Thursday in Beaver after a short illness.

He was a retired miner and a Marine veteran of World War II.

He attended Daniels Bible Church and was a member of First Marine.

Division Association, Guadalcanal Campaign Veteran's Association, DAV and UMW.

Surviving: wife, Mabel Elizabeth Acord; sons, Larry H. of Canton, Mich., William Lee of Beaver, Michael L. of Crab Orchard; daughter, Sharon E. Bench of St. Petersburg, Fla.; mother, Nellie B. Acord of Pineville; brothers, Vernon of Triangle, Va., Jack of Bolt, James D. of Jesse; sisters, Mrs. Thelma Cook of Itmann, Mrs. Violet Harless of Bradley; seven grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Melton Mortuary, Beckley, with the Rev. Don Pfleger officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.
