Services for the Rev. Bobby J. Hudson, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in White House Cemetery in Clara at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.
The Rev. Hudson, 71, died July 22, 2009, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Dec. 7, 1937, to Ellis Julius Hudson and Alifair L. Lucas Hudson.
He was a retired ordained Baptist pastor. The Rev. Hudson served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1974; including service in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Hudson was a part of "The Greatest Generation Coffee Club," American Legion Mississippi Post No. 0012, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Post No. 2618; and a Mason in State Line. He was also chaplain for 11 years at Maynor Creek Water Park in Waynesboro.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ellis and Alifair Hudson; his first wife, Betty L. Hudson; his infant children, Debra G. Hudson and Robert Hudson; and his brothers, Gilbert and Wilbert Hudson.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Martha Hudson; a son, Bobby David Hudson; a daughter, Shelia Byers; his stepsons, Kent Smith, Jimbo Smith and Tony Smith; a stepdaughter, Judy Ballard; his brothers, Luther Hudson and E.J. Hudson; his sisters, Jetty Vanosdol, Hazel Brewer and Faye Douglas; his 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association, the American Heart Association, the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency or Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson.
