Mrs. Ellen M. Hatcher Dew, lifelong resident of Woodruff County, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the age of one hundred and two years old.

She was born on January 1, 1912, in Grays, Arkansas, the daughter of Jasper Leonard and Mamie Maybetty "Bigga" Perkins Hatcher.

Mrs. Dew was of the Methodist faith, a graduate of Cabot High School and was a homemaker. She learned at an early age how to care of a family and home being the oldest of seven children. She enjoyed crocheting, yellow roses, quilting and sewing. Mrs. Ellen won a blue ribbon for her delicious biscuits one year. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons: Earnest Dew of McCrory, Arkansas, David Dew of Holly Springs, Mississippi, two daughters: Nellie Baker and husband Royce of Gates, Tennessee, Betty Lawrence of Patterson, Arkansas, one sister: Mary Guthrie of Texas, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grand-children, and seven great- great grand-children.

Mrs. Dew was preceded in death by her, parents, husband: Earnest, three brothers: Frank, Carl, and Sonny and two sisters: Polly and Joyce.

Burial was in Concord Cemetery in Gates, TN. under the direction of Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home.
