Last rites for J. Tom Box, age 73, who died at his home near Winona, On January 26th, were held at Ebenezer Church near Stewart at two o'clock January 27, conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. E. Burden. Interment was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Lee Funeral Home. Friends serving as pallbearers were Wilson Bingham, Odell Leonard, Lonnie King, Barksdale Garrett, Elmer Garrett and John Naron.
Mr. Box, the son of the late Robert and Evaline Woods Box who were among the early settlers of Choctaw County, was a prosperous farmer and good citizen. He was a member of the Tabernacle, Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Box, Winona; two daughters, Mrs. Dovie Naron and Miss Viola Box, Winona; three sons, Alvin, Floyd and Tom L. Box, all of Winona; one sister, Mrs. Dora Peacock, Clarksdale; two brothers, Claude Box, Stewart, and E. E. Box, Tomnolen; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
