Mr. Thompson served his country during World War II in U. S. Army, 4th Infantry Division. He was a veteran of the D-Day Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge in the European Campaign and was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. Mr. Thompson retired from Amoco Oil in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye Thompson of Texas City; daughters Patricia Anne Thompson of Texas City, Ginger Thompson Heilman and husband Robert of Houston; sister Murlene Carpenter of Dodson, Louisiana; three beloved grandchildren April Wathen and fiance Chris Mayfield of Huntsville, Bobby Heilman and Kelly Heilman of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, March 7, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the funeral home with Rev. Don Swilley officiating. Interment to follow at Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock.
