Donald graduated from Classen High School while working at the Criterian Theatre in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After he served in the US Army, Armed Forces Radio and Television Service, he went to work for the ABC television affiliate KTRK-TV Ch-13 in Houston, Texas. Over the next 21 years, his broadcast work included events such as President Ford's Texas election campaign, the Gemini and Apollo space missions, the first space shuttle mission at Johnson Space Center, Wide World of Sports, Monday Night Football, and events at the Astrodome. After moving back to Oklahoma City due to illness, Donald would often talk of his television experiences with great pride. He also, always spoke highly of his friends at Jeff's Country Café in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Donald had a strong faith in the Lord and he spent his later years getting to know his grandchildren who knew him affectionately as "Papa Don". A gentle spirit, he was well loved and will be greatly missed. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mark Lee Medford and family friend, Ida Marie Janssen.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry Kueteman, her husband Karl, granddaughter Brittany, grandson Matthew all of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sherry's mother, Betty Massie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and loving friends and relatives. The family would like to thank all of his caregivers and friends for their continued love and support. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
