Although Janie was born in England, she lived much of her life in Nebraska. She was raised almost from birth by her uncle and aunt, Andrew and Margaret Robson. They even brought her along from England with their other children.

She met Oscar W. Kelley; they were married in 1901 in Beloit, WI according to one source, although no explanation was given why they were there. She and Oscar had eight children, some are still living in Nebraska and California.

But Janie must have loved children because most pictures of her have children about. She was Aunt Janie to many - not only her own children and grandchildren, but all the nieces and nephews and their families. When she died in 1954, she was sorely missed.
