He was born March 3, 1950, to William R. and Anna (Martinal) Ackley in Buffalo, NY. He married Connie M. Bickel on Oct. 25, 1969, in Elkhart.
Mr. Ackley is survived by his wife; a son, Jason (Holly) Ackley of Elkhart; a daughter, Mrs. Eric (Angela) Moore of Elkhart; five grandchildren; a brother, William Ackley of Florida and a half-brother, Donald Sixth of Tonawanada, NY.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Ackley, and a daughter, Tamara Ackley.
Friends called at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Services were held at 2 pm Tuesday [11/11/2003] at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Lutz of Osolo Missionary Church presising. Burial followed at Osolo Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mr. Ackley graduated from Concord High School in 1968. He was a carpenter and woodworker for Frontier Coach and Eurocraft in Elkhart.
He was a member and deacon of Osolo Missionary Church, a member of the Promise Keepers, a former Cub Scout master and an avid fisherman. He volunteered for WFRN radio and the Elkhart go-kart races, bowled in the Thursday night Christian Bowling League at Rainbow Lane and was an MMA Advocate.
Memorials can be given to the Kidney Foundation or Gideons International.
