He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Harris Tessier, Sr., and his mother, Bianca Ortte Tessier, both of New Orleans, LA.
Paul Tessier, Jr., was born in Cleveland, OH on June 8, 1922. He was raised in New Orleans, LA where he attended New Orleans Academy excelling in football, and track and field. He attended Tulane University before enlisting in the Army Air Force in December of 1941. He attended flying school at Craig Field in Selma, AL and went on to become an instructor pilot stationed at Greenwood Army Air Field in Greenwood, MS. He remained in the Army Air Force Reserves as a pilot and again saw active duty from March of 1951 through October of 1952. Paul Tessier, Jr., lived his entire adult life in Jackson, MS and was an active member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by two children, Ms. Dianne Tessier-Epperson of Corpus Christi, TX and Paul H. Tessier, III, of Lafayette, LA; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great- great grandchildren; one sister and nephew of Manitowoc, WI; and one sister and four nieces and nephews of Apollo Beach, FL.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, in Ridgeland, MS with burial at the Parkway Memorial Cemetery, in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am Wednesday.
Memorial may be made to the Missionary Fund at First Baptist Church Jackson, P.O. Box 250, Jackson, MS 39205.
