Karl A. Hartke, 68, of 2804 SE Courtney, passed away in Portland on Aug. 14. He was a retired florist and operated the Oregon City Greenhouse from 1927 to 1945. He was also employed at the family-operated Hazelwood Dairy for many years.
Mr. Hartke was born in Oregon City and resided in the community and state for his entire life. He attended schools in Oregon City; was a member of BPOE; Carus Farm Bureau and past president of Mt. Pleasant School Alumni Association.
He was married to Edith Rose Bullard in Oregon City on Dec. 24, 1919. She survives him and other survivors include brothers; Robert Hartke, Milwaukie, and Harold Hartke, Oregon City; sisters--Mrs. Homer (Bertha) Buchholz, West Linn, Mrs. Karl (Gretchen) Buchholz, Milwaukie, Mrs. Dean (Dorothy) Rogers, Mt. Vernon, several nieces and grandnieces and his father-in-law, Frank Bullard.
Funeral services will be at the Atkinson Memorial Congregational Church on Thursday, August 18 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Horace Bachelder officiating. The service will be under the auspicies of BPOE 1189 and burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Holman-Hankins-Rilance Funeral Home.
