He was preceded in death by grandparents, Gene & Muriel Abernathy; grandfather, J. W. Smothers; aunt, Janeen Gibson and Uncle, Donald Smothers.
Jeffery Abernathy, 35, of Columbus, Neb., formerly of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Creighton University Medical Center.

Born Jan. 4, 1974, in Kennett, son of Rick Abernathy and Joan Smothers Abernathy, he was a car salesman for Phil Spady Dodge in Columbus and a member of the Campbell General Baptist Church.

On Feb. 12, 2000, in Campbell, he married Cindy Little, who survives.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Abernathy, of Columbus; one daughter, Macey Abernathy, of Columbus; his parents, Rick and Joan Abernathy of Campbell; two sisters, Amanda Langley and husband, Nathan and Sara Abernathy, all of Campbell; mother and father-in-law, Karen and Willie Christian of Campbell; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Renee Little of Gideon, Mo.; grandmothers, Goldean Smoth-ers and Betty Eskew, both of Campbell; two nephews, Devon Odom, of Senath, Mo., and Jaxson Langley, of Campbell; one sister-in-law, Lorie Barnes, of Campbell, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Gene and Muriel Abernathy; grandfather, J.W. Smothers; one aunt, Janeen Gibson and one uncle, Donald Smothers.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 27, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darren Baker officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery-Landess Addition at Campbell.
