Noble L. Mitchell, a local attorney, represented Harford County in the legislature in Annapolis for many years. Born in 1854 on Frederick Rd near the Gwynn Falls region of Baltimore County, he moved with his family to Harford County when he was seven years old. As a young man, he studied law with Bel Air attorney, Edwin H. Webster. Later, he graduated from the law department of the University of Md and practiced law at Bel Air, Md. Mr. Mitchell was elected secretary, then treasurer of Harford County Public Schools. In the 1880's he served as one of the earliest Superintendents of Public Schools for Harford County, Md. In 1887, Mitchell was first elected to the House of Delegates where he served Harford County for six consecutive sessions. He was voted Speaker of the House of Delegates in 1902. Later, Noble Mitchell served as Harford County Auditor. Mr. Mitchell continued practicing law as a popular attorney until shortly before his death. At age 77, he became ill at his home in Bel Air and was sent to the Church Home and Infirmary in Baltimore City where he died. Burial was at Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery in Fallston, Maryland. Surviving him was his daughter, Anna Noble Mitchell Hays. (info taken from Baltimore Sun obituary)
