Mrs. Ada Louise Burton, wife of the Rev. Evan J. Burton, retired ministerial member of Genesee Conference joined the Choir Invisible on April 20, 1955, while a patient at the Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, New York. Ada was born in Scottsburg, Livingston County, New York, the daughter of Matthew Eugene and Abigail Amanda McNinch. When she was five years old the family moved to Clymer Township, Pennsylvania, and later to Westfield, Pennsylvania. After her marriage to the Rev. E. J. Burton forty-one years ago she graced the parsonages and beautifully complimented the ministry of her husband wherever he was appointed. This was done with such loyalty and zeal that she was constantly a source of inspiration both to her husband and those who knew her. Besides being a homemaker and a faithful companion to her husband on the following parishes: Williamville, Silver Springs, Eldred, Pa., Port Allegany, Pa., Naples, Elma, and Smethport, Pa., Mrs Burton was a confidential friend to those who brought their troubles to her. She was an accomplished pianist, often found accompanying the singing of her husband, playing for Youth Fellowship services, and at the numerous other church groups. Mrs Burton is survived by her husband, the Rev. Evan J. Burton, and one son, Laurence. The service honoring her memory was held April 23rd, 1955, at two o'clock in the First Methodist Church, Westfield, Pa., where she has been a member since Rev. Burton retired in 1951. Words of comfort, appreciation and respect were contributed by the Rev. Kenmore Haight, Superintendent of Hornell District, the Rev. Bradford G. Webster, Smethport, Pa., the Rev. John F. Howard, Gaines, Pa., and the Rev. Erford W. Daniels, Mrs. Burton's pastor. Interment was in Middlebury Cemetery, Middlebury, Pa. "Like the closing measures of a great work of music she has gone, but the memory of the melodies and harmonies of her life will always be with us."
