Jesse Ranney, son of George, born Oct. 13, 1775 at Chatham,Massachusetts. He settled on the farm in Ashfield next north of his father's ; built a house on that farm, which he sold to his brother Joseph, and in 1818 removed to the large farm in Ashfield that he purchased of David Ellis where he died 18 Jul 1861, aged 86 years. For many years he had been a consistent and worthy member of the Baptist church; was a man of sterling good sense; of retiring disposition; of exemplary life, and most esteemed by those who knew him best. He m.5 Dec 1798, Ruth dau.of Bildad Flower.
