~ Leila Brickey Obituary ~
Leila Rhea Brickey, 90, of Kelso passed away at home in the loving arms of her husband, Leonard Hugh Brickey, Sept. 17, 2008.
She was born Leila Rhea English in Worth, Ark., May 20, 1918, one of eight children born to William Looney and Nancy Judy (Taylor) English.
Leila married her surviving husband of 62 years in Hernanda, Miss., Oct. 31, 1945. Also surviving are two sisters; eight children, Vera Lea, James "Jim" Leon, Betty Jo, Reva Lou, Jerri Ann, Johnny "John" Hugh, Sheila Rhea and Nancy Judy; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her sharp mind equipped her for devoted and passionate service to God, her husband, her family and others. She was a wonderful storyteller and writer. Her quick wit was a constant source of delight to others, whether she was in play or defending her faith. Her abundant works were evidence of a worthy woman involved in raising her children, running her household, supporting her husband's home-based business and showing hospitality to others. She was an imaginative and resourceful cook, seamstress and gardener.
Leila touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home, 301 Cowlitz Way, in Kelso.
