Military: Co I, 30th Regiment (After reorganization in 1862, became Co E), Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee, CSA, "Clayton Invincibles", Clayton Co GA. Private, enlisted 25 Sept 1861. [Enlisted at age 17, served with his 4 older brothers & the only one who did not survive this horrible war.] Captured at Rough and Ready GA 4 Sept 1864. Died of typhoid at Camp Douglas Il 1 Feb 1865. [He was captured while defending his family, friends, and neighbors during Shermans march.]

Arrived at Jacksonville Fl 6 Oct 1862 and remained to 11 Oct when they returned to Camp Hardee arriving 15 Oct 1862. Ordered by Gen Mercer to Coosawatchie SC where they remained one day and returned to Camp Hardee Oct 1862. Left Savannah GA on 14 Dec 1862 (by train) and arrived at Wilmington NC 19 Dec 1862.
