Nannie Appling was born on September 1, 1849 in Laclede County, Missouri. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Allen M. Appling, pioneer settlers of this county. On October 13, 1880 she married William L. Saunders. She united with the Methodist Church at Marvin Chapel was organized she was one of the charter members and as long as her health permitted she was very active in all the work of that church. In the death of this woman the community loses a most useful Christian, a good neighbor and friend.
Nannie underwent an operation some fifteen years or more ago and while she was apparently benefited, later her health failed and she has been in poor health for several years. She died on Friday morning at her home about three miles east of Lebanon after an illness of a week. She was 61 years of age.
The following relatives attended the funeral; Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Saunders of St. Louis; Tine Appling of Furley, Kansas; H. J. Saunders of Pacific; J.M. Saunders, Andrew Saunders, Mrs. Florence Musgrave and H.E. Millsap, of Mountain Grove.
