Joe Belt, 89, of Van Buren died Friday, February 7, 2003, in a Van Buren nursing home. Son of the late Ralph and Rodie Nichols Belt, he was born May 17, 1913, in Dyer. He was a retired farmer and was the widower of Lola Hall Belt. Survivors include a son, Jessie Ray Hobbs of Tehachapi, Calif.; a sister, Emma Blasingame of Mulberry; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren, with Rev. Jackie Boen officiating. Burial was at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
