Born July 27, 1920 in Lewis, IN he was the son of David F. and Lucy (Case) Hummel. He was a retired sales representative for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was a member of the American Legion and a past member of the Toastmasters. Gerald was a member of the McDoel Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Snyder of Bloomington, Sandra Horvath and her husband Laszlo of Greenwood, IN; one son Michael Hummel and his wife Katherine of Lillian, AL; a sister, Lucy Jane Presswood of Lewis, IN; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Vera J. Hummel on Oct. 27, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd. 37 with Pastor Harold Carter officiating. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens, where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
