Married Twice. First in 1861 and then in 1876.
Served four years as surgeon in the Confederate Army.
For his 80th birthday a party was given in his honor by forty physicans and he was presented with a silver loving cup and an elaborate birthday cake.

Dr. Maury Will be Buried Wednesday
Services will be held from Residence and Burial Will be in Elmwood. Funeral services for the late Dr. Richard B. Maury, aged 85, prominent Memphis physician, who died Monday afternoon after a four weeks illness of pneumonia and heart trouble, will be held from the home, 1566 North Parkway, Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Officiating will be Bishop T.F. Gailor, the Rev. W.D. Buckner and the Rev. A.M. Rich. Interment will be in Elmwood. Members of the City Club of which Dr. Maury was the founder and an honorary president, will attend in a body, and representatives from other local organizations will attend the services at the home. The following are the active pallbearers: Poston McGehee, Louis R. Hardy, R. Maury Ellett, John Ellett, T.J. Turley, Jr., Stewart Poston, John M. Trenholm and Dr. Edwin D. Watkins. The honorary pallbearers are J.M. Goodbar, Maj. G.W. Macrae, C.W. Metcalf, Col. H.M. Neely, Capt. W.B. Mallory, W.C. Dewey, W.J. Crawford, Dr. Max Goltman, J.F. Holst, Dr. W.W. Taylor, james S. Robinson, Bolton Smith, C.P.J. Mooney, R.T. Cooper, J.N. Falls, J.H. Embury, Paul Dillard, Henry Wetter, R.P. Lake, C.C. Hanson, L.B. McFarland, B.L.
