SISTERSVILLE - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Eckels Funeral Home for Chauncey Arthur (Johnny) Archer, 74, of Sistersville, Rt.2, who died at the Sistersville General Hospital Tuesday morning. Interment will be in the Archer Chapel Cemetery.
He was born in Tyler county, Sept. 24, 1898, the son of the late Everett and Fannie Ice Archer. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sistersville Church of God.
Surviving are his widow Ethel West Archer; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Hess, of Kent O., Mrs. Sara Longwell, of New Martinsville, and Mrs. Helen Slaughter, of New Athens, Ill.; two sons, Roy of Charleston and Chauncey of Sistersville; five sisters, Mrs. Lucy Pierpont, of Middlebourne, Mrs. Mabel Mitchell of Sistersville, Mrs. Mary Stalnaker, of Beechbottom, Brooke county, Mrs. Wilma Pitzer of Wilmington, Del., and Mrs. Nell Flesher of Wellsburg; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mona Archer.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2. p.m. today.
