Life Long Resident of Charleston Passed Away Sunday Morning
George W. Chambers, a life-long resident of Charleston township, died Sunday morning from cancer of the face. He was 79 years old July 4. He had been ill for several months previous to his death, which occurred in a Kalamazoo hospital. His father, Hugh Chambers, located on a farm when he came to Michigan in pioneer days, and it was on this same farm that George lived all his life. Mr. Chambers was married twice, but never had any children. He is survived by one brother, John Chambers, who is 90 years old and resides in California; several nieces and nephews, including Fred, Ernest and Roy Chambers, of Augusta. The funeral services w ere held Tuesday at the Garrett Funeral Home in Augusta, at which the Rev. A. R. Elliott officiated. Burial was made in the Lawler cemetery. Augusta Beacon Aug 4, 1938 page 1
