He met Carla White and loved her so much he married her twice; once in July of 1968 and again in August of 1981. Their marriage produced three children; Danielle, Tyson, and Brandy. Unfortunately they decided to go their separate ways and divorced in 1992.
Calvin followed in his father's footsteps and ran Cal's Refrigeration Service after working many years for General Electric. Unfortunately repeated back problems took its toll and he had to retire early. In retirement Calvin enjoyed learning about computers, fishing, and pursued many other hobbies.
Calvin passed away suddenly on June 28, 2003 at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgial Center. His graveside funeral services were held at the Albion Cemetery with Rev. Jeffrey Caswell of the Central Christian Church officiating. His interment was in the Albion cemetery. Memorials were directed to the Calvin D. Specht Memorial Fund.
Cal was survied by two daughters, Danielle (Michael) Clark-Gilkey of Home Harbor, Florida and Brandy Specht of Holiday, Florida and a son; Tyson Specht of Clear water, Florida. He was also survived by a granddaughter Chelsea and his parents Charles and Ida Specht of Marshalltown, and a sister Sandra Fiems of Eldora.
