Bert Boyce Cook, died November 29, 2008. He was born May 24, 1924 in Danville, Illinois, son of Cyrus H. and Ethel Reynolds Cook. He was the oldest of four children.

He was a graduate of Manual High School, Peoria and attended the University of Illinois.

Bert was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 3rd Armored Division in World War II. He served under General Omar Bradley, a man he admired greatly admired.

He worked as an engineer at Continental Can Company in Chicago for 25 years.
He was honest, tender-hearted and generous, but quick-tempered; yet, he had a sharp wit and was equally quick to laugh.

He enjoyed playing tennis with friends in Marquette Park, working daily crossword puzzles, and offering wry commentary on political leaders.

He leaves vivid memories to those who knew him.

Bert is survived by his sister, Ruth York; children Evelyn Cook, Marilyn (nee Cook) Harfst, Brian Cook, Roger Cook and Bradley Cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear wife, Josephine Fiumefreddo; his sister, Mary Ann and his brother, Shirlen 'Gene'.

Burial: Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.
