Maxwell 'Max' E. Ruddell, 82; Navy veteranFuneral services for Maxwell "Max" E. Ruddell, 82, of Memphis, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Highfill Cemetery in Taswell.

He died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at his home.He retired from The Evening News where he served as head pressman for 32 years.

He also served his country in the Navy aboard the U.S.S New Orleans. He was a member of Gospel Tabernacle, Sellersburg Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 204, Bonnie Sloan VFW, and Clark County Democrats.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Ruddell; two daughters, Rhonda Gividen, of Sellersburg and Shari Kidwell and her husband, Larry, of Jeffersonville; grandson, Max Shireman and his wife, Stacy, of Sellersburg; sister, Dora Ann Hammett and her husband, Jerry, of Clarksville; brothers, Don Ruddell and his wife, Louise, of Sellersburg and Ralph Ruddell and his wife, Theresa, of Sellersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxwell and Virgie; and a brother, Albert Ruddell.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Legion Post 204 Color Guard.
