"The Kentucky State Journal" a newspaper out of Frankfort, Franklin Co., KY published Feb 17, 1910
"Mr. Charles Mefford, 90, died at the home of his son, M.F.L. Mefford, on East Main Street, Tuesday Morning. Mr. Mefford was originally from Scott county but had been a resident of Franklin county and later Frankfort for many years. He was a man of sterling character and held the respect and esteem of all who knew him. He was one of the oldest Masons in the state and was a charter member of Stamping Ground Lodge. He is survived by seven children, three sons and four daughters, who are: Mrs. Annie Howard of Boston, Ky., Mrs. Mary Costigan of Stithton, Mrs. Lizze Stone of Lexington, Mrs. Steve Toppass of this city, William Mefford of Georgetown, John Mefford of White Sulphur and Jesse Mefford of this city. Funeral services will be conducted at the home of his son ,Thursday, with burial in the Stamping Ground Cemetery.

He was the son of Joseph Mefford and Margaret Rush and was married to Mary Elizabeth Butler.
