Pleas ran the mill on the creek that crosses Williams Road in Madison NC. He and Cora and family lived in a house on a hill above the creek just on the other side of the road (same side of the creek). The mill ruins are still visible. A new home is on the site of their old home.
Eventually he ran other mills in Madison NC and also was a sought after builder in Madison. Pleas never drove a car. He enjoyed a horse drawn buggy.
He died at the home of his oldest son, James Cecil Brown on the corner of Cardwell and Dalton Streets in Madison NC, where he lived in his later years.
