AUDREY RUTH ADCOCK BAILEY, AGE 84
And a resident of Franklinton died at 11:55 pm Friday June 25, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Coushatta, LA and a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton.
She was a talented musician and a certified Piano teacher, instructing numerous young people for many years and volunteering her time with the Franklinton High School Choir and to countless couples at wedding ceremonies and local funeral services. Mrs. Bailey was a good seamstress and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Franklinton Women's Club, the Winterset Club and was involved in the formation of the Franklinton Town Pool.
Mrs. Audrey was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church Choir and was instrumental in the formation of and fundraising for the First Baptist Church Handbell Choir, the Children's Choir and the Church library. It was said that if she had "a Bee under her bonnet" there wasn't a cause she could not raise funds for, either for her church or numerous local charities or other endeavors. Mrs. Bailey was very civic-minded and a true humanitarian demonstrated by her committed involvement throughout all areas of our community.
Survived by: Daughter: Beverly Elizabeth Bailey of Franklinton; 2 Sons: Kenneth Melvin Bailey of Monticello, MS James G. "Jay" Bailey, III of West Lafayette, IN;
2 Grandchildren: Ken Bailey, Jr. and Laura Lynn Bass;
4 Great-grandchildren: Caleb Bailey, Kathleen Bass, Seth Bass, and Tucker Bass; Sister-in-law: Laurine Adcock of Coushatta, LA
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James G. Bailey, Jr., parents Joseph Thomas Adcock and Lena Mae Norman Adcock, four sisters Myrtle Stahl, Kate Gates, Lola Conley, and Maggie Womack, and three brothers Ray Adcock, Clyde Adcock and Thomas Adcock
Visitation will at First Baptist Church Tuesday June 29th from 10 am until 2 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2 pm with Dr. Joe Baugh officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Dr. James G. Bailey, Jr. and Audrey A. Bailey Memorial Scholarship through First Baptist Church of Franklinton.
Pallbearers: Dale Miller, Randy Magee, Wayne Kuhn, Dennis Robbins, Bill Stafford, Hillary J. Crain, Greg Newman, and Byron Dunn Wales.
