Mr. David W. Ocker, of Scotts, died Thursday afternoon, August 21, 2003 in Niles, Michigan. David was born February 13, 1948 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Doris "Doc" and Joyce (Parsons) Ocker. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with several contracting firms for over 30 years, most recently with SubSurface in Comstock Park. He was also a member of the Union Local #324. He was preceded in death by his father, "Doc" Ocker. On February 11, 1967, he was united in marriage to Diane (Price) Ocker who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Wendy Leach and Amanda Bunch, both of Vicksburg; 7 grandchildren, Raeanne, Kyle, Davie Marie, Kodee, Taylor, Malaynah Diane, and Zane; his mother Joyce Doonan of Vicksburg; 4 brothers and sisters, Barbara (Dan) Tully of Climax, Judy (Orrin) Dennis of West Olive, MI, Michael Ocker of Portage, and Dennis (Colleen) Ocker of Parchment; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Grant of North Carolina; 3 sisters-in-law, Frankie Smith of Portage, Jackie Worden of Florida, and Cara Price of Kalamazoo; a brother-in-law, Ken Price of Galesburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel. Interment will be in Gilson Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo.
