Mary Elizabeth was born the daughter of William and Mary Alexander Wilson. She married Jeremiah W. Butler January 1, 1853 in Owenton, Owen County, Kentucky. They moved to Shelby County, Indiana by the 1860 census. Sometime between 1870 and 1880 they moved to Dallas County, Mo. In 1900 they are living in Hancock County, Indiana and Mary is a widow living in Greene County, Missouri in the 1910 census.

Mrs. Mary E. Butler, aged 79 years who lived with her daughter, Mrs. Lany Miles, at 1411 East Florida street, died about 11 o'clock last night after a long illness. The funeral arrangements have not been made.
