The funeral of Mrs Catherine (O'Brien) wife of Denis O'Leary was held this morning from her home 5 Ash St with prayers in the home by Rev Thomas S Donoghue. There was a solemn high mass of requiem in St John's Church at 9 o'clock where the funeral procession was met in the vestibule of the church by the officers of the mass who recited the prayers for the dead and preceded the body to the alter. Father Donoghue was the celebrant of the mass assisted by Rev John F McDonnell and Rev Charles H Duffey. The services were attended by members of the Married Ladies Sodality and the banner of the Sodality draped at the alter rail. There were numerous floral tributes and spiritual offerings. Bearers were Cornelius C Brosnahan, Timothy P Brosnihan, George C Shea, Patrick D Dowd, Timothy Coakley, and Andrew F O'Brien.
Note: Tombstone gives year of birth as 1878. Baptismal records indicate she was born in Ballyvarig, Firies, Co Kerry, Ireland in 1875.
