Cora's Mother was Phoebe Strickland Calhoun Scott. Trudy,(1 of Cora's twin daughters) had been saving money to buy her daughter a new coat. They burned coal for heating fuel in those days. Her daughter had put the money on the back shelf on the stove where it all melted down. They were all lamenting this fact when Cora came back from a Doctor's visit in Oklahoma City with the news that she had cancer and only had a matter of months to live. The loss of $25.00 became a minor issue after that tragic news. Thanks Trudy For talking to the kids! She also said that Phoebe left each of them 5 acres in Choctaw., Oklahoma when she died.
