NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Graveside service for Veda Ruth Milburn Aurentz, 79, Nacogdoches, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Caledonia Cemetery, Timpson, Texas, with Brett Maisel officiating.
Mrs. Aurentz died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at a Center, Texas, nursing home.
Arrangements are under direction of Laird Funeral Home, Nacogdoches.
She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Duncan, to Earnest and Rosa Milburn. She graduated from Lawton High School and then attended Cameron State Agricultural College in Lawton. She married Army Sgt. 1st Class Vern L. Aurentz on Feb. 18, 1950, in Phenix City, Ala. She retired from the Department of the Army Civil Service after many years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Vern Aurentz; a daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Terry Parker; a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Phyllis Aurentz; grandsons: Mark Parker, Phillip Aurentz, and Martin "Marty" Monroe; granddaughters: Erin Ragsdale, Angela Aurentz and Amy Monroe; former daughter-in-law, Janice "Jan" Monroe and husband William; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Rosa Milburn; two sisters: Ellen Hardy and Katherine Greer; and brother, Edgar Milburn.
A Veda Aurentz Memorial Fund has been established at the Austin Bank of Garrison, Texas, to benefit the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Washington, D.C.
