Alice L. Hirdler (Duffney) David, 92, died peacefully in her sleep June 1, 2009, in Rochester, Mich.

Alice was born June 15, 1916, in Forest Township, Rice County, Minn., to Arthur and Harriet (St. Denis) Hirdler. Alice married Ernest J. Duffney at St. Patrick's Church in Shieldsville July 2, 1935. Ernest died Dec. 30, 1955. Alice married Leo F. David and later were divorced. Leo is now deceased.

Alice graduated from Faribault High School, class of 1932; she was only 15 years old. Our family moved to Michigan in 1955. After Ernest died, Alice married Leo F. David; and they moved to Beverly Hills, Calif. They divorced around 1970. Alice had a high-ranking position at UCLA and retired in 1981. In 1991 Alice moved to Michigan to be with family. About 1998 Alice had signs of dementia; in 1998 she became a resident at Sunrise of Rochester in Rochester, Mich., a beautiful facility specializing in the care necessary for Alzheimer's patients.

Alice is preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest J. Duffney and Leo F. David; son, Robert E. Duffney died June 28, 2002. Survived by son, David F. Duffney lives in Dryden, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Pat Duffney lives in Warren, Mich. Alice has nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A gravesite service will be held Aug. 8, 10 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Faribault, Minn.
