A resident of the county for most of his life, he moved to Monticello in 1979.
He was a retired operator and agent for the C&O Railroad.
Born Aug. 26, 1908 in Pulaski County, he was the son of Samuel E. and Arzella Franks Heims. He is survived by his wife S. Helen, whom he married on January 21, 1932 in Crown Point.
He was a former Franklin Township Trustee and attended Bethel Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Betty J. Perry, Monticello; two sisters, Vera Lichwark, LaCrosse and Velma Warner, Argos; two brothers, Merlyn, Winamac and Verne, Plymouth; and three grandchildren.
Burial was in the Winamac Cemetery.
